Instagram’s Newest Features Make It Easier to Interact With Others

Posted on

Instagram is one of the biggest social networks out there, and it’s also one of the most popular ways to share photos. It’s easy to sign up for a free account, and you can post images, videos, and stories (see below) alongside captions.

It’s also a great way to engage with other people, thanks to features like Direct Messages and Rooms. In fact, Instagram’s newest updates are all designed to make it easier for you to interact with others.

1. ‘Not Interested’ Control

There’s a lot of content on Instagram that might not interest you, but if you’re scrolling through your feed and you want to stop seeing it, there’s a new ‘Not Interested’ control that can help. Once you’ve activated it, the app will try to show you less of that type of content in the future.

2. Embed Posts

If you’re marketing a business, adding Instagram posts to your website can be an effective way to attract potential customers. It also shows them that you’re active on the platform, which can lead to increased traffic and more followers.

3. Use the Explore page

The Explore page on Instagram is a great place to discover other users and posts. It will show you pictures and profiles that Instagram thinks you’ll like, along with categories at the top of the screen that can help you see more of a specific topic.

4. Add Location Tags

With a few taps, you can add location tags to your Instagram photos, so others can find out where you took them. This can be useful for people who have specific locations they like to visit.

5. Create a Story

Stories on Instagram are a fun way to share video and photo content that’sn’t quite long enough to go in your feed. These stories can be broadcast at different times throughout the day, and can be edited with doodles, stickers, filters and masks.

6. Limits on Comments and DMs

If you’re not happy with the way other people are commenting or contacting you on Instagram, you can now restrict these conversations by blocking them. This is a helpful way to keep out those who might be harassing you or making inappropriate comments.

7. Captioning for Screen Readers

As we’ve mentioned, people with disabilities often have difficulty reading text, so it’s important to ensure that all of your Instagram content is readable for those who can’t. With the new ‘Caption for Screen Readers’ feature, you can easily change your caption’s format to make it compatible with people who use a screen reader.

8. Get More Followers

Once you’ve built up a following, it’s important to continue sharing with them. With Instagram’s new ‘Followers’ feature, you can subscribe to people who post content you like, and they’ll appear in your ‘Followed’ section on your Home tab.

9. Find More Friends to Follow

The best way to start following someone on Instagram is by hitting the magnifying glass icon at the bottom bar and tapping ‘Find People to Follow’. Then, you can choose to browse based on their profile picture or search for their name through the search bar at the top of the page.
